CardioSync

A portable ECG Holter on an ESP32 that uploads its recordings to AWS on its own.

The problem

Holter studies need days of continuous ECG recording, and getting that data to clinicians is still a manual step.

How it works

The ESP32 records 3-lead ECG and motion data at 100 Hz to an SD card in a compact binary format. When it connects, it requests a presigned S3 URL through AWS IoT Core over MQTT/TLS; a Lambda issues the URL, the device uploads, and a second Lambda processes the signal.

Pipeline

  1. 01ECG + IMU capture
  2. 02SD storage
  3. 03MQTT request
  4. 04Presigned URL
  5. 05S3 + Lambda

Highlights

  • Hardware, firmware and cloud in one system
  • Certificate-based device auth with IoT Core
  • WiFi off during capture to save power
  • Hardware-free test mode for the AWS pipeline
